Which M4A files can I convert?
This task accepts AAC audio in an M4A container with one mono or stereo audio track. ALAC, video tracks and other unsupported encodings are rejected. Inspection checks the actual audio; the file and duration limits appear above.
What changes when I convert to MP3?
Embedded tags and chapters are omitted. When needed, decoded samples are reduced to signed 16-bit precision. MP3 adds a new lossy encoding at 128 kbps; identical sound or a smaller file is not guaranteed. Review each required choice before converting.
Can converting restore audio quality?
No. AAC is already lossy, and another lossy encoding cannot restore detail previously removed. Keep the original M4A if you need it for later editing or comparison.
