Which M4A files can I convert to WAV?
Use an audio-only M4A containing one mono or stereo AAC track at 8–48 kHz. ALAC, video tracks and multiple tracks are not supported. Inspection checks the actual audio; current file and duration limits appear above.
Does WAV restore the original audio quality?
No. AAC is already lossy. This WAV preserves the inspected signed 16-bit decoded samples, but cannot restore detail removed during AAC encoding or promise original floating-point decoder precision. WAV files may be much larger.
Which choices do I need to review?
Embedded tags and chapters are omitted. When the inspected decoder precision requires it, you must consent to reducing decoded samples to signed 16-bit PCM. WAV adds no new lossy audio encoding. Review each required choice before converting.
