Choose a GIF file for AVIF conversionGIF to AVIF converter
AVIF output is preset. For an animated GIF, choose Export first frame to create one still image. Later frames and animation timing are omitted. A single-frame GIF needs no frame selection. AVIF is lossy. Quality is optional and defaults to 88; Lossless is unavailable. Identical RGB or alpha values, smaller bytes and full profile/metadata preservation are not guaranteed. This advertised still-image workflow does not promise animation retention or a frame-number picker. Review the choices, then Add task and Run. No task is created automatically.

GIF to AVIF questions
Will the output keep the animation?
This page describes a still-image workflow: select Export first frame to omit the other frames and timing. It does not promise animation retention. Use GIF Frame Extraction for all frame images in a ZIP. This page supports ordinary unprofiled unsigned 8-bit GIF images. Unparsed embedded ICC profiles and unsupported GIF variants are outside this page's scope.
Can I choose a different frame?
This converter offers first-frame export, not a frame-number picker. To work with another frame, extract the GIF frame images with the GIF Frame Extraction tool.
Will the AVIF preserve every pixel?
No. This AVIF workflow uses lossy encoding. RGB and alpha values may change; review the result instead of expecting pixel identity.
Will the AVIF always be smaller?
No. File size depends on the source and chosen quality. Compare the actual downloaded file.
Does conversion improve the original GIF detail?
No. Changing the file format cannot recreate detail or colors that the source GIF does not contain.
