GIF to ICO Converter
Choose a GIF file for ICO conversionGIF to ICO converter
ICO output is preset. For an animated GIF, choose Export first frame to create one still image. Later frames and animation timing are omitted. A single-frame GIF needs no frame selection. Each ICO contains one square image resource. Choose 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 or 256 pixels. Keep whole square image requires a square source; a rectangle needs explicit Center square crop. Enlargement is opt-in and a smaller source may produce a smaller icon. If an ICC profile is present, explicitly choose Remove color profile (may change colors); ICO cannot retain it here. Display-P3 removal is rejected. This advertised still-image workflow does not promise animation retention or a frame-number picker. Review the choices, then Add task and Run. No task is created automatically.

GIF to ICO questions
Which GIF image becomes the icon?
For an animated GIF, explicitly choose Export first frame to use its first frame. A single-frame GIF needs no frame selection. This page supports ordinary unprofiled unsigned 8-bit GIF images. Unparsed embedded ICC profiles and unsupported GIF variants are outside this page's scope.
Will the ICO animate or contain all GIF frames?
No animation is promised in this still workflow. Each ICO contains one square resource. Use GIF Frame Extraction for all frame images in a ZIP.
Will a rectangular GIF be cropped automatically?
No. Keep whole square image requires a square source. Explicitly choose Center square crop to cut the edges of a rectangle; transparent padding is not added.
Which icon sizes can I choose?
16, 32, 48, 64, 128 or 256 pixels. Smaller images remain smaller unless enlargement is selected. No multi-resolution ICO bundle is created.
Can I select another animation frame?
This converter offers the first frame only, not a frame-number picker. Extract all GIF frame images with the existing GIF Frame Extraction task to choose another image.
