TIFF to PNG questions
Which TIFF files can I convert to PNG?
This workflow supports unsigned 8-bit TIFF scans and photos. High-bit TIFF and CMYK input are outside this workflow's supported scope. Keep the original if you need its document metadata or other pages.
Will PNG keep a transparent background?
Yes, supported transparency is kept in PNG output. This conversion does not require a background or consent to discard transparency.
What happens to a multi-page TIFF?
Choose one page and confirm that the other pages will be omitted. The output is one PNG; this path does not automatically export every page or create an all-pages ZIP.
Does PNG keep the complete TIFF document?
No. PNG uses lossless compression for the supported image pixels, but it does not preserve the full TIFF document, all pages or every metadata field. Keep the original TIFF for archiving.
Will the PNG always be smaller?
No. The output size depends on the image. Check its actual file size against the receiving website's limit; converting the extension alone does not guarantee upload acceptance.
How to convert TIFF to PNG
1. Choose your TIFF file Select your scan or photo. The supported scope is unsigned 8-bit TIFF input; high-bit and CMYK TIFF files are outside this workflow's supported scope.
2. Confirm PNG output Check that PNG is selected. PNG keeps supported transparency and uses lossless image compression; no background or transparency-loss consent is needed for this output.
3. Choose one page when needed For a multi-page TIFF, select one page and confirm that the other pages will be omitted. This path creates one PNG, rather than converting every page automatically.
4. Convert and download Start the conversion and download the PNG when it finishes. Check the resulting image, dimensions and actual file size before sharing it or uploading it elsewhere.
