How to convert WebP to JPG

  2. Start with Balanced JPG quality. Choose High quality for more detail or Smaller for a smaller file.
  3. For transparent WebP images, choose a Background color. JPG cannot keep transparent pixels.
  4. Select Run Convert. Compare Original and Output for dimensions, color, and clean edges.

Troubleshooting WebP to JPG conversion

The app accepts JPG but rejected my renamed WebP

The filename extension does not determine the encoded format. A renamed WebP still contains WebP data. Run the conversion and select the newly downloaded JPG when uploading again.

The JPG is larger or looks softer

WebP is often compact, so a JPEG copy may be larger. If the source WebP already has compression artifacts, converting cannot restore the lost detail. Compare Balanced and High quality; use the original source image if a better version is available.

The WebP is transparent or animated

JPG cannot preserve transparent pixels or animation. Use WebP to PNG if you need a transparent still image. Keep the WebP when you need playback rather than a single still picture.

Before you share the JPG

  • Check the output against the receiving app's size and dimension limits. Changing formats does not automatically make a picture fit a maximum upload size.
  • Inspect the downloaded file at the size you will actually use. A small preview can hide compression damage around faces, fine texture, and lettering.

Why did an image download as WebP instead of JPG?

Websites can deliver WebP versions to reduce image transfer size. If another app requires JPEG, converting the downloaded WebP creates a JPG copy without needing to change the website's settings.

Can JPG keep the animation from a WebP?

No. JPEG is a still-image format and cannot contain a WebP animation. Keep the animated WebP when motion is required; use this converter when you need a still JPG.

Will WebP to JPG improve image quality?

No. Conversion does not recover detail already lost in the source. JPG adds a lossy encoding step, so compare the result and choose higher quality if fine detail becomes too soft.

Can I convert WebP to JPG on my phone?
