Convert AVIF to WebP

Use an AVIF image in a web workflow that accepts WebP. This workflow supports ordinary unsigned 8-bit still AVIF images. Default output and the Lossless choice use lossless WebP encoding. To request lossy WebP, leave Lossless unchecked and enter Quality. Lossy output does not promise identical pixels. Converting cannot restore detail already lost in AVIF encoding.

AVIF to WebP questions

Which AVIF files can I convert to WebP?

This workflow supports ordinary unsigned 8-bit still AVIF images. High-bit, CMYK, animated and unqualified file variants are outside its scope. Each source image has its own output task and file; this workflow does not export animation.

What quality will my WebP have?

Default encoding and the Lossless choice use lossless WebP. Entering Quality with Lossless unchecked requests lossy WebP; quality alone is not a guarantee of identical pixels or a smaller file. Converting cannot restore detail already lost in AVIF encoding.

Will transparency, colors and metadata be identical?

Review the transparency and color settings before adding the task. The target can represent transparency, but this page does not guarantee identical RGB or alpha values, full metadata or original color-profile preservation. Check the downloaded image in the receiving app.

Will all source pages or frames be exported?

Each source image has its own output task and file; this workflow does not export animation.

Will the result always be smaller or accepted by my app?

No. Compare the actual download size with your limit and confirm that the receiving app accepts WebP. A different extension alone does not guarantee acceptance, smaller bytes or print readiness.

How to convert AVIF to WebP

1. Choose your AVIF image Select ordinary unsigned 8-bit still AVIF images. High-bit, CMYK and animated input are outside this page's supported scope. Each source image has its own output task and file; this workflow does not export animation.

2. Review WebP output Confirm WebP is selected. Leave Quality blank for the native default, or check Lossless. To choose lossy encoding, uncheck Lossless and enter Quality. Leave Width and Height blank to keep dimensions after orientation handling.

3. Review source and output choices Each source image has its own output task and file; this workflow does not export animation. Review any transparency/background, color-profile and metadata decisions. Complete metadata, original color-profile preservation and every file variant are not guaranteed.

4. Add the task, convert and download Choose Add task, then Run and download the WebP. Check the actual image, file size and receiving app's requirements. Converting cannot restore detail already lost in AVIF encoding.
