JFIF to JPG questions
Can I rename a JFIF file to JPG?
If it is a valid JPEG-family image and only the filename extension is rejected, try renaming a copy from .jfif to .jpg. This preserves its image bytes and embedded metadata. Acceptance depends on the receiving site; keep the original and test the copy.
What happens when I choose Run Convert?
The converter decodes the image and creates newly encoded JPG output with default JPEG compression. It is a new image file, so its bytes, file size and appearance can change.
Will re-encoding affect quality or file size?
JPEG re-encoding can lose detail and does not guarantee a smaller file or better quality. Compare the finished image and its actual size. Use the original for another export if the result is unsuitable.
Does converting JFIF to JPG remove GPS or EXIF metadata?
JPG output may retain embedded photo metadata. Use the separate EXIF removal tool when metadata cleanup is needed, then inspect a downloaded copy with an independent metadata viewer before sensitive sharing.
How do I convert several JFIF photos?
Choose multiple files within the uploader limits and run the conversion. Review the completed images in File list, then download individual results or use Download Batch ZIP when available. Check a representative file in the receiving site before submitting the set.

1. If the photo opens normally and the receiving site rejects only its .jfif extension, try renaming a copy to .jpg. Renaming changes the filename while keeping the image bytes, dimensions and embedded metadata. Test the renamed copy in the receiving site.
2. To create a newly encoded JPG, choose files and select your JFIF originals. This page fixes the output to JPG and uses default JPEG compression.
3. Choose Run Convert. Select a completed image in File list and compare Original with Output, especially rotation, fine detail, dimensions and actual file size.
4. Download the selected completed result, or choose Download Batch ZIP when available. Open the downloaded JPG and test it in the receiving form. Keep the original for future exports instead of repeatedly saving compressed copies.
Popular conversion routes
Animated, technical, and modern codec routes
Use the APNG first-frame to JPG workflow when one still is required, APNG to WebP when timing and alpha must survive, or JPEG to JPEG XL when the receiver explicitly supports JXL.
For JP2/JPEG 2000 or DDS to PNG, upload the source here, search for PNG under Output format, preview one representative file, and confirm transparency and color before exporting the batch.
