Photos, screenshots, and web images
Animation and multi-image containers need a matching workflow. A still-image output does not retain playback or every page.
Choose a focused category when you already know the kind of image or document task you need. The complete tools list remains available when you want to compare every workflow.
Choose the full converter for these source families. File variants, dimensions, and the available decoder determine whether an individual file can be read. Extension aliases such as JPG and JPEG name the same family.
Animation and multi-image containers need a matching workflow. A still-image output does not retain playback or every page.
Export a viewable photo to JPG or PNG. Do not expect a Live Photo, depth map, or the other images in a camera container to survive a still-image conversion.
Use PNG for an ordinary viewable copy. A decoded image is not a full texture export: mipmaps, cube-map faces, and application-specific container data are not preserved.
These inputs export to the image formats below, not back to editable source files. Vector artwork becomes pixels; layers are not editable in the result. Farbfeld becomes 8-bit RGBA, and PFM is normalized to an 8-bit viewable image.
The full converter renders the first PDF page at 200 DPI. Choose PDF Tools to select pages, export a page set, split, or merge documents; a single converted image is not the whole document.
These links open the full converter with the output selected. Available encoders are checked in the converter before a job runs. The separate multiple-output workspace offers its own smaller set of choices.
A widely compatible photo output. JPG has no transparency and lossy saving cannot recover missing source detail.
Convert to JPG / JPEGA raster output with transparency support. Choose lossless settings when exact pixel values matter; converting a JPG does not recreate lost detail.
Convert to PNGA smaller web-delivery option with transparency support. Check that the receiving application accepts WebP; use the APNG workflow above when preserving animation.
Convert to WebPA modern compressed image output. Check destination support before replacing JPG or PNG in an upload or delivery workflow.
Convert to AVIFUses a limited color palette. Converting a still image does not create motion; use GIF Maker when assembling frames into an animation.
Convert to GIFA raster handoff for imaging software. Exporting a still image creates one image, not a multi-page document or layered project.
Convert to TIFFAn RGB bitmap output without an alpha channel. Files can be much larger than compressed web-image formats.
Convert to BMPCreates square icon images from a centered crop, capped at 256 pixels. Prepare a square source if the entire composition must remain visible.
Convert to ICOAn RGB JPEG 2000 output for applications that explicitly support it. This export does not retain an alpha channel.
Convert to JP2 / JPEG 2000An image re-encode for JPEG XL-compatible software. Use the separate reversible JPEG-to-JXL tool when exact original JPEG-byte reconstruction is required.
Convert to JXL / JPEG XLPlaces a converted image in a PDF with a white background. Use PDF Tools to combine multiple images or pages into one ordered document.
Convert to PDFWrites an RGB portable pixmap without transparency. PNM, PBM, PGM, and PAM inputs do not mean this output creates each of those distinct pixel formats.
Convert to PPMWrites RGB or RGBA raster data for compatible graphics software. This is a flattened image, not an editable layered file.
Convert to TGAWrites an RGBA DirectDraw Surface image. It does not build mipmaps, a cube map, or a selectable game-engine compression profile.
Convert to DDSWrites an RGB PCX image for legacy applications. This output has no alpha channel and does not create a multi-page DCX file.
Convert to PCXWrites a one-bit black-and-white bitmap. Color and continuous tones are reduced; use PNG when they need to remain intact.
Convert to XBMNeed an animation or a document workflow? Open GIF Maker, GIF frame extraction, PDF Tools, or reversible JPEG to JXL. Renaming a file extension does not convert its contents.
Start with the property the finished file must keep, then choose the smallest format that satisfies the destination. A format name alone is not enough when the source contains transparency, multiple frames, or document pages.
No. JPG does not store alpha transparency. Choose PNG or a compatible WebP output, or deliberately select the background color that should replace transparent pixels before exporting to JPG.
Not automatically. Confirm that the selected route is animation-aware. Use the GIF tools hub for frame creation or extraction when timing and frame order matter, and use a still-image route only when one representative frame is the intended result.
